BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Where King's Care Scholars Come Alive
Great education develops the whole child. At King’s Care, our scholars are athletes, coders, scientists, artists, culinary creators, and community leaders because we believe that who you are outside the classroom shapes everything you become inside it.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
A Great Education Develops the Whole Person
Our extracurricular program is not a supplement to the academic timetable; it is woven into the fabric of what King’s Care means. Every activity is intentionally designed to develop a skill, build a character trait, or unlock a talent that classroom learning alone cannot reach. We want every scholar to leave King’s Care not just qualified but genuinely capable and deeply confident in who they are.
- Six structured extra-curricular programmes running across all age groups throughout the academic year
- Every scholar encouraged and supported to participate
- Participation tracked and celebrated alongside academic achievement because both matter equally here
King’s Care Interhouse Sport Event
Sports and Athletics
At King’s Care, sport is not just physical education — it is character education. Our sports programme develops physical fitness, competitive drive, teamwork, and the resilience to win and lose with grace. Students compete in inter-house competitions, represent the school in inter-school tournaments, and develop the physical confidence that carries over to every other area of their lives.
- Physical fitness, coordination, and athletic skill development
- Teamwork, leadership, and the ability to perform under pressure
- Competitive spirit balanced with sportsmanship and respect
- Healthy habits and a lifelong relationship with physical activity
Coding and Technology
King’s Care’s coding program introduces students from Primary through College to the language of the modern world. Through structured lessons, creative projects, and practical problem-solving, our scholars learn to think computationally, create digitally, and understand the technology that shapes every aspect of contemporary life. In a world increasingly built on code, King’s Care scholars are not just users, they are builders.
- Programming logic and computational thinking from an early age
- Digital creativity and digital solutions
- Technology literacy that complements every other subject
- Preparation for a career landscape that is increasingly digital
Science Exhibitions
Our annual science exhibitions give every student the experience of being a real scientist. From Primary through College, students design their own experiments, build their projects, and present their findings to an audience of peers, teachers, and parents. The science exhibition is one of the highlights of the King’s Care calendar, a day that consistently produces moments of genuine pride for every participant.
- Scientific method — question, hypothesis, experiment, conclusion
- Research skills, data analysis, and logical presentation
- Confidence in public presentation and fielding questions
- Recognition that science is something you do, not just something you study
Culinary Arts
Our culinary program is one of the most beloved at King’s Care and one of the most educational. Students learn to plan, prepare, and present food with care and creativity. Beyond the practical skills, culinary arts develop patience, precision, teamwork, and the satisfaction of producing something tangible and nourishing from beginning to end. It is a program that scholars carry with them long after they graduate.
- Practical cooking and food preparation skills for life
- Understanding of nutrition, hygiene, and kitchen safety
- Creativity, patience, and attention to detail
- Teamwork and the satisfaction of collaborative creation
Cultural Events and Celebrations
From cultural days and graduation ceremonies to inter-house competitions and end-of-term celebrations, King’s Care marks the milestones of school life with the joy they deserve. These events are not interruptions to the academic programme — they are essential to it. They build community, celebrate individual achievement, honour Nigeria’s cultural richness, and remind every scholar that they belong to something worth celebrating.
- Cultural pride and awareness of Nigeria's rich heritage
- Community belonging and the ability to celebrate others
- Performance confidence, speaking, presenting, and being seen
- School identity and the shared memories that define a school career
Debate and Public Speaking
King’s Care’s debate and public speaking program develops one of the most valuable skills any young person can acquirethe ability to think clearly and speak persuasively. From structured classroom debates to formal competitions, students learn to research an argument, organize their thinking, and communicate with confidence to any audience. The scholars who go through this program consistently describe it as one of the most transformative experiences of their King’s Care journey.
